The Nebraska baseball team is hosting the Northwestern Wildcats this weekend at Hawks Field. Following a 3-1 trip to Piscataway, N.J., for pod play against Rutgers and Indiana the Huskers enter the weekend just a half game back of the Hoosiers for first place in the Big Ten standings. The Wildcats had to cancel their past seven games due to COVID-19 precautions. The three game series opens tonight at 6:30. The two teams will play Saturday at 2:00. Sunday’s series finale is scheduled to start at Noon.
The Creighton baseball team takes on Seton Hall in a four-game set in New Jersey this weekend. The Jays are in first place in the Big East standings and have won 15 of their last 17. Game one of the four-game series is this afternoon at 2:00. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at 11:00. The series wraps up Sunday morning at 11:00.
The Omaha Mavericks continue Summit League play this weekend with a four-game series against Oral Roberts at Tal Anderson Field. The series begins today with a doubleheader at 3:00. Game three is Saturday at 6:00, the series wraps up Sunday afternoon at 1:00.
The Nebraska softball team closes out the regular season this weekend with a four-game series against the Northwestern Wildcats in Evanston, Ill. The series begins with a single game this afternoon at 3:00, followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 1:00. The series finale is scheduled for 1:00 on Sunday.
The Huskers continued their release of post-winter/pre-spring testing numbers on Thursday, with the fastest 10-yard split times. Walk-on sophomore defensive back Phalen Sanford from Benkelman had the fastest time of 1.51 seconds.

One other Husker football note: Former Nebraska tight end Kurt Rafdal announced that Boise State is his transfer destination. Rafdal played in 26 games during his Husker career.
The conference schedule for the Nebraska men’s basketball team was released Thursday. The 20-game Big Ten schedule features seven double-play opponents, along with six single-play opponents (three home and three away). The Huskers will have home-and-home matchups with Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Their single-play home opponents are Illinois, Maryland, and Minnesota, while Michigan State, Penn State and Purdue will be their single-play road games.
Nebraska Women’s Basketball Head Coach Amy Williams announced Thursday that Chuck Love has been promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach. Love, who will be entering his sixth season as a member of Williams’ Husker coaching staff in 2021-22, also spent four seasons on her staff at South Dakota.
The UNK track and field team is hosting a pair of “Last Chance” meets this weekend. Saturday and Sunday’s Twilight Meets will begin at 3:00 at Kearney High. The Division II Outdoor Championships will be held later this month in Allendale, Michigan.
UNK redshirt junior Lacie Fox has been selected as the NCAA Division II winner of the 2021 Kim Moore Spirit Award, presented by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association. Fox played in all 11 rounds this spring and finished second in stroke average (82.07) for those Lopers who logged 20-39 career rounds. Off the course, she recently graduated with a Business Administration (Marketing) degree.
The top-seeded South Dakota State football team will face No. 2 Sam Houston this Sunday in the FCS national championship game at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Kickoff is set for 1:00, with the game televised on ABC. The Jackrabbits feature two former Kearney High Bearcats, Ben Dinkle and Isaiah Stalbird.
