Hastings College Women's Soccer // HC Broncos Athletics

HASTINGS – The Hastings College women’s soccer team remained undefeated with its dominating win over Dakota Wesleyan by defeating the Tigers 5-0 on Saturday night on Lloyd Wilson Field.

Hastings got the scoring started on a corner kick that was sent in by Megan Lampe that was headed home by Dekota Schubert for the 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.

The Lady Broncos increased its lead in the 26th minute following a DWU turnover, Dulce Lopez stole the ball and found Schubert where she slipped a pass forward to Miley Prine. Prine ripped a shot that deflected off a defender, over the keeper and into the goal for the 2-0 lead.

In the 25th minute, Schubert hit a shot that would get blocked by a defender right to the feet of Sofia Gomez-Garcia and the let one rip from 25-yards out that beat the keeper and into the side net for the 3-0 lead.

Dekota Schubert‘s day was a big one as she climbed to fifth all-time in career goals with 43, to third all-time in career assists with 30 and fourth all-time in career points with 116.

Hastings continued to dominate the action in the second half and then Eva Dunker got in on the action ripping a long shot off the crossbar that then bounced off the keeper and into the net to make it 4-0.

Hastings rounded out the scoring when Megan Lampe sent in a free kick that eventually found the head of Kailee Lunzer but her header was saved but Julia Vilanova was there for the put back to make it 5-0 in the 64thminute.

Hastings finished the game with 29 total shots to just five for the Tigers. The Lady Broncos also finished with 20 shots on goal compared to just three for DWU all of which Jackson Pedersen saved.

Hastings improves to 6-0 (1-0) on the year and will be back in action Wednesday Sept. 20 hitting the road to take on Jamestown with kickoff set for 8:00 pm.
