RUNZA SENIORS DROP FIRST MATCHUP OF TRI-CITY TOURNEY:
The Kearney Runza Senior Legion baseball team opened their Kearney/Hastings tournament with a loss, falling short to Millard South on Friday night at Memorial Field.
Kearney (15-15) fell on four runs off of eleven hits with one error. Millard South earned the win scoring five runs on thirteen hits and no errors.
Kearney is back in action today with two games at home at 9:30 AM and 7:30 PM.
UNK T&F’s FERGUSON DISQUALIFIED IN SEMIFINALS OF 800 METER RUN:
A controversial disqualification eliminated UNK Track & Field’s Wes Ferguson despite a top finish in his semifinal at the USATF Championships in Eugene, OR.
Due to steps on the lane line, the Fremont native was eliminated from the competition despite passing two Division I national champions and claiming the heat win with a time of 1:46.82.
UNK’s Brayden Sorensen is set to compete on Sunday night in the high jump.
NEBRASKA NATIVE AND WRESTLER ADDED TO PAN-AM CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Current Husker wrestler and Omaha native Antrell Taylor (70 kg) is set to compete at the 2023 U20 Pan-American Championships in Santiago, Chile, July 8.
Taylor, Nebraska’s 2022-23 Redshirt of the Year, wrapped up last season with a 5-3 record overall and most recently finished second in the U20 Freestyle division at the 2023 U.S. Open.
The draws have been released and Taylor will face Paraguay’s Joao Maldonado Romero in the opening round.
