Grand Island man arrested after punching, hitting roommate with beer bottle in the face

GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man was arrested after punching and strike his roommate in the face with a beer bottle during the evening of Monday, June 24.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 7:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to 5th St. in reference to an assault.

At the scene, a 33-year-old male stated that his roommate, Pedro Juarez Gutierrez, assaulted him while they were drinking inside the residence.

The man said that Guiterrez punched him in the mouth with a closed fist and then hit him with a beer bottle on the top of his left eyebrow.

Officers observed fresh blood on the man’s mouth and a small laceration on the top of his left eyebrow. They also noted Guiterrez had fresh blood on both of his hands.

Guiterrez was transported to CHI St. Francis Medical Center for medical clearance because he failed a preliminary breath test.

Gutierrez would be arrested for second degree assault and booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
