KEARNEY — On Wednesday morning, Governor Jim Pillen will hold a press conference at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) in Kearney to announce additional state support for the museum’s restoration, renovation, and expansion.
MONA broke ground on the project in December 2021 and anticipates its substantial completion later this year.
MONA is home to the State of Nebraska’s official art collection. Founded in 1976 as the Nebraska Art Collection, the organization opened the Museum of Nebraska Art in 1986 to showcase the collection, which has grown to more than 5,000 works of art.
At the press conference, Gov. Pillen, local leaders, and MONA representatives will give brief remarks on the expansion of the museum and its significance as a showplace of Nebraska’s artistic heritage. This event is open to media.
