Grand Island man arrested for assault after assault using broken piece of framing

GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man was arrested after allegedly assaulting another man with a broken piece of framing on Monday, May 21.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 2:19 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Pioneer Park.

A 35-year-old male reported that Mohammed Hassan attempted to strike him with a stick. Other witnesses confirmed that Hassan attempted and did strike the victim with the improvised weapon.

A broken piece of framing was located near the area and the man struck by Hassan identified it as the weapon that was used to strike him.

Witnesses also stated that the 35-year-old man made several attempts to get away from Hassan but he would continue to follow and make attempts to strike him.

Hassan would be arrested for attempt of second-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. He would be booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
