OTTAWA, KS. – The Hastings College softball team dropped it season opening double header to No. 17 Ottawa 6-1 and 6-0 on Friday afternoon.
Kyleigh Boever took to the mound in game one holding the Brave offense in check through five innings of work giving up just three runs. It was the Lady Bronco offense that struggled to get going picking up just four hits in game one. Boever finished the game throwing 6.0 innings giving up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits while striking out four.
Katyn Kappler had the lone RBI for Hastings win a single up the middle in the seventh but HC dropped game one 6-1.
Game two saw Angelina Lockhart take the mound as she would go 3.1 innings giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits. Bailey Schmit threw the final 2.2 innings giving up two runs on five hits. Hastings would drop game two 6-0.
Hastings is now 0-2 on the year and will be back in action Saturday Feb. 10 hitting the road to take on Sterling in a doubleheader with first pitch set for 1:00 pm down in Sterling, KS.
