Hastings College Women's Basketball v. Dakota Wesleyan 2024 // HC Bronco Athletics
HASTINGS – The Hastings College men’s basketball team dropped its conference matchup to Dakota Wesleyan 80-65 on Friday night inside Lynn Farrell Arena.
After trailing 13-7, Reggie Thomas found a wide open Tyrique McMurrin at the top of the key for three and the Ben Boudreau broke free for a layup to make it 13-12 with 11:39 to go in the first half. McMurrin then found an open Grady Corrigan as his three hit nothing but nylon as the Broncos took the lead 15-13.
Quinn Johnson then hit a three to make it 18-13 and it seemed like the offense may get going but then offense began to sputter as DWU was able to tie things at 18 with 7:28 to go in the half. Then Thomas found an open Johnson again to make it 21-18 and after the Tigers tied things up, Johnson buried another three. The teams then battled as HC took a 31-28 lead into halftime.
The Tigers then caught fire shooting nearly 61 percent in the second half and eventually pulled away for the 80-65 victory.
Corrigan and McMurrian each finished with 15 points as McMurrin surpassed 1,000 career points in his collegiate career on the night. Thomas added 14 points and nine boards while Johnson finished with 12 as all of them came from behind the arc.
Hastings finished the game shooting 40 percent (23-for-57) while DWU shot 46.6 percent (27-for-58). The rebounding edge favored the Tigers 43-to-30 while both teams turned the ball over nine times.
Hastings is now 14-7 (9-4) on the year and will be back in action Saturday Feb. 3 as Jamestown comes to town with tipoff set for 2:45 pm inside Lynn Farrell Arena.
