Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor recently released his version of John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band‘s 1983 song “On the Dark Side.”

The track is the lead single from Taylor’s upcoming solo EP CMFB. Sides, which is due to arrive on February 25 via Roadrunner Records.

The original version was featured in the 1983 film Eddie and the Cruisers. The movie, which was based on the P.F. Kluge fiction novel of the same name, was directed by Martin Davidson.

Taylor’s version features a well-balanced and modern sound with a familiar guitar tone and hand claps.

Taylor’s covers and acoustic EP, which contains nine songs in all, follows his 2020 debut solo album, CMFT, and contains acoustic versions of “Halfway Down” and “Kansas,” two of the songs from that record.

CMFB.Sides tracklist:

1. “Holier Than Thou” (Metallica cover)
2. “All This And More” (Dead Boys cover)
3. “Kansas” (Acoustic)
4. “Shakin'” (Eddie Money cover)
5. “Home/Zzyxz Rd” (Live)
6. “Lunatic Fringe” (Red Rider cover)
7. “Got To Choose” (KISS Cover)
8. “Halfway Down” (Acoustic)
9. “On The Dark Side” (John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band Cover)
