All-star compilation album “The Metallica Blacklist” has reached the top 10 on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart, coming at No. 7 on the chart dated October 16.
“The Metallica Blacklist,” a tribute to Metallica‘s self-titled 1991 album, sold 8,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending October 7, according to MRC Data.
Billboard noted “The Metallica Blacklist” previously spent one week at No. 73 on the Top Album Sales chart dated September 25, when the album was only available to purchase as a download.
The album’s re-entry in the top 10 comes after physical editions of the album, on CD and vinyl LP, were released on October 1.
“The Metallica Blacklist,” which features covers of black album songs by stars such as Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Chris Stapleton, Weezer and many more, sold about 6,300 copies on CD and nearly 1,400 copies on vinyl.
Billboard noted the Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales.
“The Metallica Blacklist” also soared to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Compilation Albums chart and reached new highs on Top Rock Albums (No. 12), Hard Rock Albums (No. 4) and the Billboard 200 (No. 103).
