Eddie Van Halen died a year ago today — October 6th, 2020 — from a variety of cancer-related causes at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica. He was 65.
His second wife and widow Janie, his son Wolfgang from his first marriage to Valerie Bertnelli, and Van Halen bandmates Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony have all paid tribute.
And the Van Halen website has posted the video for “Respect the Wind” — the song Eddie and Alex Van Halen did for the movie Twister in 1996 — along with the caption, “When we experience beauty, we know it as truth. Ed – love you…miss you.”
