Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Mark Knopfler and Billy Gibbons are among the guitarists who contribute to the new album by Dion.
Stomping Ground is the follow-up to last year’s Blues With Friends, which also had him collaborating with many of his friends and admirers.
Pete Townshend, who wrote the liner notes, characterizes Dion as “amazing.”
“Dion, like a circling star that never fades, generates the energy and fire we need to pull ourselves up and start again. Dion is a star who knows well how to start again, how to keep shining. He looks at his watch every few years. Damn! Let’s make a record. Take care. This one will blow those little white things in our ears right into your brain.”
Also helping out on Stomping Ground are Boz Scaggs, Patti Scialfa and her husband Bruce Springsteen, Keb’ Mo’, Sonny Landreth, Jimmy Vivino, Rickie Lee Jones, G.E. Smith, and Joe Bonamassa, whose record label, KTBA Records is releasing the album. Joe also plays on the first single, “Take it Back.”
The second single, “Angel in the Alleyway” with Patti Scialfa on vocals and hubby Bruce Springsteen on guitar and harmonica, will follow on October 13th.
Stomping Ground will be released digitally as well as on CD and as a two LP set on November 5th.
In other Dion news, The Wanderer, a musical based on his life and music, will stage its world pre-Broadway premiere at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey on March 24th of next year.
