The Offspring drummer Pete Parada says he was dropped from the punk rock band’s forthcoming tour for refusing to get vaccinated for the coronavirus.
The Offspring is scheduled to embark on a major tour of North America, the U.K. and Europe on August 8.
Parada admitted on social media that he is “unable to comply with what is increasingly becoming an industry mandate.”
But the drummer claimed that his doctor advised him “not to get a shot at this time,” due to the associated risks of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, an immunity damaging disease.
Parada made it clear that he had no negative feelings towards his band, saying, “They’re doing what they believe is best for them, while I am doing the same.”
But people should be free to make a choice about the vaccine “unburdened by coercion,” according to him.
